Durable Content Credentials: creating trust in content in the age of AI

I found this interesting initiative via Ash Mann’s newsletter - Durable Content Credentials prove how content was created, where it came from, and its editing history, as well of improving trust and accuracy in the age of AI slop.

There are three parts to the credentials:

  1. Secure metadata (C2PA-signed data on how content was made)
  2. Invisible watermarking (hidden identifiers that survive screenshots or rebroadcasting),
  3. Fingerprinting (a perceptual match against stored credentials).
